Hi, I’m Emily.
Sports have been tethered to most of my life’s pursuits. After playing for the National Championship Softball team at Tufts University, I knew I wanted to learn from my coach about her pedagogy as a teacher. So I stayed with the program for another year as a Grad Assistant Coach and took courses in exercise science during that time.
In pursuit of a career in behavioral psychology, I became a clinical research coordinator for two years at Boston Children’s Hospital. Discovering that coaching was my true love, I worked at Achieve Fitness in Somerville for five years, InnerCity Weightlifting for a year, and have worked with many clients independently. I also spent these years playing for the Boston Renegades, a women’s tackle football organization. Through many injuries as a receiver, I found that one of my specific interests in coaching is injury rehabilitation.
My goal when working with clients is to make strength training fun, accessible and sustainable. The most effective program, after all, is one you’ll stick to! By working with talented Physical Therapists like Haley and Chris, we combine high-quality clinical care with continued strength and performance programming to help each and every client meet their goals.

Hey, I’m Chris.
I am fascinated with the concept of using movement as a form of medicine. Throughout my life, I was a competitive soccer, track & field, and baseball athlete, and I continue to love chasing the next physical feat through hiking, weight-lifting, trail-running, and cycling.
Looking back, there are times I wish I had access to high-quality physical therapy, times my teammates had missed opportunities to perform at their highest level, and times when the people closest to me received poor medical care. These experiences have driven me to care for my clients differently, delivering holistic care through the interplay of the mind, body, our social interactions, and the impact these factors have on our performance and pain experience.
My goal is to serve as a coach in the rehab journey, empowering my clients by fostering their mental and physical resiliencies. I combine my knowledge of strength and conditioning principles with contemporary pain neuroscience to help clients reach their rehabilitation goals and maximal athletic potential.
I also have the privilege of teaching and mentoring within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program and Clinical Residency in Orthopedic Physical Therapy at the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Hi, I’m Haley.
Through my own injuries as a dancer, my intuitive understanding of the human body, and desire to combine creativity with critical thinking, I was driven to pursue a career in physical therapy. But, I also knew that I wanted to do it differently than I had traditionally seen it done. As a patient, I valued one-on-one care, an individualized treatment plan, and time spent with my therapist- something that many models of physical therapy don’t allow for.
In 2019, I opened Empower Physical Therapy and Performance with the goal of creating a space where clients who were ready to invest in their health could thrive. My unique background in movement, strength and conditioning, manual therapy, yoga, and dance allows me to offer an individualized approach to physical therapy as well as performance coaching.
Today, not only am I able to offer high quality, one-on-one physical therapy care out of Empower but I also have the privilege of teaching and mentoring within the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions.
